What’s the purpose of this website?
I originally wanted to make a basic blog outlining my trip to the Dominican Republic. However, I accidently bought a domain for a website. I then decided to put pictures and videos on it from trips I had taken in the past. However, I figured it would be extremely narcissistic to develop an entire website to myself which is why I decided to expand it to providing free advice and recommendations to others based on my personal travel experiences (both good and bad)
How are you different from the 100,000 other travel blog websites?
To be honest with you, I’m not. Have I been to as many places as someone like Nomadic Matt? Nope. However, I also have another full-time job and do this as a hobby. I wouldn’t have put the time and effort into making this site if I didn’t think I had good insight that could help people have successful travel experiences.
Why should we trust you?
You may not agree with a recommendation or post, but know it is my unfiltered opinion. I would need another hand to count how many bad experiences I’ve had because a guide book made a garbage hotel sound like the Four-Seasons Montenegro Bay. Everything I post on this website is from my own personal experience. All the hotels and hostels that I have stayed in were charged to my own credit card and the reviews were posted long after I left. The main point is that I will tell you what I think is the good and bad about a country, hotel, or attraction because I want to give you good information not because I’m being paid and sponsored.
What’s with the “Giving Back” tab? Are you trying to solicit donations?
I included this tab because I wanted more content for the site. I have worked with Kiva for the past few years in funding projects through micro lending and they are a reputable site. Given that I’m traveling throughout the world, I figured it would also be good to spotlight some of the human stories from different places around the world. Although I do not need your donations, if you want to fund a loan that helps improve peoples lives you can register for a Kiva account here.
How often will you update your content?
I update this site as I conduct personal travel, which is generally 1-3 times a year. There may be months were I do not update this site at all. I periodically contribute new material to the “Travel Tips” page that can be found here.
What do I get out of visiting the site?
Whatever you want to get out of it. This is website is free so the only thing you will be wasting is your time if you don’t find something to take away from your visit here. I’m one man so there is only so much ground that I can cover, however I don’t believe in going to a staying 2 days in a country just to check it off my bucket list. The average amount of time I have spent in countries I’ve visited is 24 days, so I can give you great insight into each of the country’s covered on this website which should help you in your decision whether or not to visit them.
